Carlos Manuel Castellon, CPA, graduated from Florida International University (FIU) in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting and taxation.
He began his career in public accounting in 1982 with KPMG, a "Big 4" international accounting firm. He then opened his own firm in 1987 and it has grown to become one of the most recognized Hispanic CPA firms in South Florida specializing in International Taxation. Castellon Halloun PL is a founding member of ICG-International Consulting Group, an alliance of tax professionals, attorneys, and consultants in more than 25 countries.

Florida's Senate Bill 4D, which was passed in May 2022, made it mandatory for all Florida condominium and cooperative buildings, three stories or higher, to undergo milestone inspections, structural inspections, and submit specific information to the DBPR. This legislation came as a direct result of the Champlain towers tragedy.
In addition, regarding the funding of reserves for the continued maintenance and repair of condominium and cooperative buildings, among other things, the bill prohibits waiver of reserves by associations for certain structural components.

Dr. William G. Hardin lll was appointed Interim Dean of the College of Business from Florida International University in May of 2021. In 2020, Hardin was ranked No. 3 in the world for real estate research productivity from 2015 – 2019 by the Real Estate Academic Leadership (REAL) Author Rankings. Over the course of a 20-year academic career, Hardin has authored or co-authored 50 papers on topics including commercial real estate investment, foreclosures, corporate governance, residential real estate, and REIT financial structure.
Dr. Hardin joins us to discuss his recent study, The Housing Price Premium Associated with Charter Schools. This existing literature documents the relationship between public school quality and a residential real estate price premium. Hardin discusses how charter schools impact the residential real estate market here in Miami-Dade and Broward County areas. A key to follow is how the overall quality of a school determines this classification and why (8:00).
This overview answers the unspoken question we have all been wondering; are charter schools gentrifying surrounding neighborhoods? (7:22) Followed by this discussion, Hardin shares his “why Miami” point of view (22:27) and the importance of talent within the workforce here in the city (30:24).
